“HERSTORY” made on Election Night 2017

Sharing is caring!

CNN has reported, “Virginia voters elected the state’s first openly transgender candidate to the Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday. Danica Roem unseated incumbent delegate Bob Marshall.”

Wow. I had to re-read that statement. With an aggressive push from the LBGT population, as well civil rights groups, history was made on November 7, 2017. Although I am quite elated with this progress in the LBGT movement, I think it is so crazy how we continue to break barriers and fronts in areas that should have been tackled years, and decades ago. LGBT populations continue to be a dual minority due to their race and sexual orientation. I look forward to the day when this is not news, but mere footnotes in the landscape of Congress. While I look forward to the vision and goals of House of Delegate Elect Roem, I am equally intrigued if this is a new normal. She stated she ran after a huge bathroom related bill that would have crippled the rights of her peers, as well showcased a negative cloud on the commonwealth state. With this historical night, there were many shining moments in the dark cloud that is Washington DC. With a wicked administration, trying to do a previous administration accomplishment, we look now look for these new governors, representatives and mayors to uplift and empower America. Hopefully, this election will serve notice in 2018 and beyond. Making America great again is very much in play in this historical election of Ms. Roem. I look forward to what lies ahead.
