I’m Coming Out to Myself!

Sharing is caring!

Hello Friends! Within my blog today I will be discussing the steps that you may find helpful while coming out to yourself about your sexuality.

Revealing that you may have slight differences to others is not the easiest. Coming to terms with things that aren’t your typical ‘little secret’ within yourself isn’t either. So, can you comfortably reveal to yourself that you may be different and that it’s okay? Here I present to you four steps on ‘Coming Out to Yourself.’

Step 1: On My Own

We’re our own biggest enemies! Coming out to ourselves and accepting your sexual identity is by far the first step. Who cares if anyone else doesn’t except you, do you even accept yourself? Understand this is who you are and this is what makes you happy!

Step 2: I Am Who I Am

In this stage, you may begin to start identifying yourself as gay, lesbian, trans-gendered or bisexual. Being able to look in the mirror and then present yourself in public comfortably in your sexuality is important. You should feel no need to live a ‘double life.’ Understand that not everyone will accept your choice. However, their opinion shouldn’t stop you from living in your truth!

Step 3: Standing True in My Pride

Typically, now you’re completely comfortable of your sexuality. You’re able to present yourself among the public eye with no regrets. Some can become participates in gay, lesbian, transgender or bisexual activism. Some may not feel the need to share, however that’s also acceptable.

Step 4: Passing the Word

This final step, may appear to be the easiest. However, it depends on how you intend to approach it. Now, you should be able to share your journey with those that appear to struggle with their sexuality. You should be able to comfort them and share the obstacles you may have encountered. Knowing that someone is in your corner is one of the best feelings in the world.
